Painting is what I do and I really can’t explain it or explain why. I like to put paint on things. I can’t help myself.
Many artists can cite influences or mentors. I didn’t have any. I respect anyone who’s tried to paint. I may not like the painting, but I respect that someone had the passion and desire to paint. I incorporate aspects of styles from other artist, but even then I adapt and change it to create my own style. With little formal training, all I can do is absorb from others and learn through trial and error.
It’s taken a long time for me to be comfortable enough to show my work. I’m not completely happy with it, just comfortable. Maybe I never will be happy with my paintings, but as the saying goes, it’s the journey that counts.
