I have been taking photographs for more than 40 years.
I caught the bug as a sophomore in high school, where the yearbook photographer sat next to me and allowed me to look through her SLR. It was so cool! It would not be until my junior year that I would get my first camera, a broken Graflex 35 rangefinder. My father had rescued it from a trashcan. I tinkered with it until it finally worked, and so it began.
Oddly enough, my first pictures were of my brother’s foot and a tomato soup can. Little did I know that the tomato soup can, had already been made famous by some little artist named Warhol. After I had found this out, I decided to wait until now to show my work for the first time. Although I can still picture that photo in my mind, I still lament that I have no print or negative of it.
I have always looked at the world with an eye for detail. My work encompasses an eclectic mix of people and landscapes, realism and the abstract. Whether I focus on a single element of unusual beauty, a play of light or color, or just a fleeting moment in time, I photograph whatever I find interesting. I often revisit my photos that I had initially found just so-so, to have some leap out at me later, to remind me of why I took it in the first place.
Regardless of what I have penned for this bio, the truth of the matter is that I just enjoy taking pictures.
