Wishkeeper-White by Matt Lovein

Raku Fired.

Matthew owned and operated a furniture design and fabrication business in California before he discovered his love for ceramics. “I saw an image of a vessel in a dream. When I awoke I remembered the unusual form. Using clay and the Raku style of firing, I created this vision.” Strolling through a lamp store, I saw a brass finial, on which was cut the symbol for good fortune. I carved this image into wood and then pressed it into the wet clay, creating a seal thereby sealing the vessel with ‘Best Wishes’. He works with the Raku style of firing. “When Raku-firing, I love the element of surprise. It’s a gift of creation, formed by the meeting of fire and clay. This form is both contemporary and timeless”.

The dimensions of this piece are 9″ wide X 9″ deep X 14″ high.
