Painting Working Abstractly

Event Details

What: For only $45.00 + supply list  . Schweizer’s own paintings reflect her exploration of both imagination and the natural world in an expressive style influenced by an instinctive sense of abstraction.  Painting abstractly is like instrumental music, no words, no images, but a flow or rhythm and shapes. We must dive deep within to draw out our own sense of line, shape and balance in working with the blank paper. Exercises, e.g., artist’s games, automatic drawing and “underdrawings” will be explored using traditional and non-traditional media.

Who: You – NO experience needed.  Maya k Schweizer  taught Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Art History at Sacramento Country Day School for several decades. She maintains her own studio practice and shares her passion for creative exploration with students enabling them to discover their own creative vision. Her work reflects an exploration of imagination and the natural world in an expressive style influenced by abstraction. She has traveled globally and exhibited in the U.S. and India.  Awards include Douc Langur, CAEA, Francie Tidey Award, SCDS and inclusion in “51 Portraits of Women Artists,” by noted photographer, Kurt Edward Fishback.           schweizerart.com
