I paint an alternate reality where a slinky Cat and an enigmatic Duck do the things that people do. They drive cars and ride bikes. They go to the beach. They work their day jobs. It’s an engaging, vaguely retro world of rounded fenders, tail fins, rotary dial phones and record players. I’m a former newspaper reporter from Southern California and have lived in Sacramento for 25 years. People started buying my paintings shortly after I started making them, about six years ago. I have no formal training, but I pour a lot of myself into every piece. Last year, my original 8×10 painting Cuppa Kitty was one of the top 20 pieces at the Crocker Art Museum’s annual Big Names, Small Art auction (which was kind of a big deal for me). I like it when my paintings make people smile. I think of them as a kind of  propaganda for love and harmony.
