“My name is Roya Osman, originally from Afghanistan. Despite initiating my painting journey in my homeland, the harsh realities of living in a war zone compelled me to abandon my artistic pursuits and studies for many years. Realizing the impossibility of painting, I turned to writing, capturing the stories of Afghan women—narrating their hardships, love, pain, beauty, beliefs, and sorrows. Persisting in my writing, I express myself in two languages, Farsi and English, through my pencil, conveying thoughts to others.

Now, sensing an opportunity to revive my passion for art, I refuse to let it slip away. Closing my eyes, vivid images of my youth resurface—dreams of capturing the beauty of nature, women, and flowers on canvas.

As a woman, I perceive beauty not just in the external world but within my inner body, eyes, and soul. Embarking on this new chapter, I believe that true beauty originates within oneself. As an artist, I possess the ability to bring this internal beauty to life on canvas, sharing it with those who can feel, smell, and see its essence, whether in the real world or on the canvas surface.

This marks the beginning of my journey, and this time, I am determined not to give up. I yearn to live my dream, capturing all the beauty around me and within me. I want to paint, learn, teach, and never stop evolving. My desire is to see through people’s eyes and into their souls, understanding their thirst and enthusiasm, and immortalizing these emotions on my canvas. That is my heartfelt wish.

This showcase is a new window for me to see the world through, to discover people’s thoughts and wants. To find out how people think and value colors, art, and artists nowadays. This experience would let me take my first step into the art world, to immerse myself in it, drink from its vast ocean, ascend to new heights, fly through the sky, and paint anywhere I reach, and color anywhere I want.”
