Our creator blessed me with a modicum of talent and skill which enables me to be a creator myself. I feel obligated to honor the creator by manifesting and sharing these gifts on canvas, primarily in oils. For me, painting is part of being mindful and seeing the beauty that surrounds us all. Sharing my art and putting myself out there is also part of my growth. I drew and painted as a child, but Dad said he would not send me to art school because he did not want his grand kids to starve. I went into science and was a hydrologist and water resources planner for my 40-year career. The kids ate well but I always felt part of me was lying fallow. I came to paint later in life after a health scare and a wonderful 2-day workshop at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center where I am a member of the Northern California Arts group. That was 12 years ago, and painting has been my play time and recreation since then, allowing me to plow the field left fallow for years. It is my hope you can enjoy the harvest with me. Both the left and right brain are totally engaged when I paint, and painting engages the analytical-science side and artistic-creative side of my mind in a very satisfying way. Throw in a little heart, a dash of soul, a smile and there is the recipe. As you may observe in this show, my subject matter is diverse and eclectic, harnessing my ADD. I get onto a topic or a style and play with it for a while, changing gears when boredom strikes! I hope that you enjoy the show and find it a visual feast. My goal is for you to enjoy and share the beauty.
