Howard-Painting B-CIRCUS AT ITS BEST
Artist, teacher, juror, curator, gallery owner, mentor…Howard Stover has done it all!
I’ve known Howard for over 10 years now. We have shown art in many venues and I have audited some of his classes. For over 5 decades he has actively been involved in the visual arts as both teacher and artist. He estimates that he has produced over 5,000 pieces of original art.
He continues prolific and his award-winning work can be viewed at various galleries in Northern California. Having exhibited in numerous juried shows throughout the country, Stover has twelve one-man shows to his credit!
He works in almost every media including ceramics, multi-media, jewelry, oil, acrylics, watercolor, ink, collage, pastel, graphite, and assemblage.
With amazing versatility, native Californian Howard W. Stover renders a multitude of images ranging from landscapes and still life studies to figurative compositions and abstractions.
Howard seamlessly mixes effects!
His work encapsulates emotion and then explodes it upon a canvas of life. He has a BA and Master degree in Art and has been an active participant in the regional art community for years.
His teaching includes elementary, high school and college levels. Due to his extensive teaching experience and artistic prominence, Stover was selected by the William James Foundation as an instructor for ‘Art in Correction’, a program which evaluates the artistic talent of the incarcerated. This program allows an avenue for their natural creativity often buried, to surface through Howard’s sensitive insight and guidance.
His grandchildren have followed in his footsteps. Each of them have participated in the Annual Youth Invitational in Sacramento, one has even received a ribbon at the California State Fair.
